DVR and Lost Bob

I am tool literate (which means I am really good at power tools and attachments! Go ahead, make your jokes.), I am computer literate (which means I can do pretty much anything around and just below the ‘install new hard drive’ area) and I AM electronics literate. Which means I can connect a TV, DVD, VCR, AMP, TUNER, SPEAKERS, VIDEO GAMES ---and BOB--- and make them all work with ONE remote from 50 yards away !! LOL
But, on Saturday, my one and only DVR went tits up. This is my LIFE !!
It been acting up like a horny bitch for the past month or two. But Saturday it was all -out -done. Wouldn’t even open her mouth to spit out my damn Days Of Our Lives disc !! HELLO??? FRIDAY EPISODE!!! That and some Desperate Housewives, CSI, Criminial Minds, etc.
I sent Rog in to Best Buy on Sat aft to ‘check out what they got’. He comes back with the option of “open box”…. For a mere $135 etc. Leave it to a man to check out the cheap and free shit when it aint’ something THEY want!! I know what Open Box means…..display models…no manuals…no remotes….no cables….NADA.
Okay, I’ll bite. I already got the cables. They thru in the Universal Remote for free!! What a deal !!
2:30pm….I hook this shit up. Remember I ain’t no dummie, and I ain’t drunk…YET. I plug in all those cables. …Just like Mr. Best Buy told me….I did the whole Universal Remote CODE SEARCH for my TV and Direct TV Box. Worked like a charm. I got channels. I got Guide, Menu, Info. It all there ! Hell, I could change channels on the neighbors 3 houses down !!! (Imagine that, like Grumpy Old Men….come on, you have to have seen THAT !!! Remember? Was it Wheel Of Fortune??)……..ANYHOO>…………….
Do you think for the life of me I could get this SONY Universal Remote to work on my SONY DVR ???? On/Off? Works like a charm. Anything else? BITE ME !!
Today I took the “out of box” back to the store. I says to the nice young Indian guy behind the Geek Squad counter (I can make jokes like that cuz my hubby is one of them !!!) I says to him: Your boy sold me this “out of box” unit and this universal remote yesterday. I get the “out of box thing --with no cables, manual or remote ” its all good, but this remote runs my dishwasher and garage door --but NOT this DVR !
I want a NEW remote that goes with THIS unit, you either program THIS remote to run THIS DVR, or I want a whole new unit with its own remote.
And that is EXACTLY how I said it… With a smile. And my pretty lipstick, hair all done up, and nice Florida attire !! LOL Woo Hoo………
I walked out of there with a whole new unit, in the box, with remote…

and only cost me $70.45 MORE than what I paid for the ‘out of box’…..UGH.
Only took me 4 hours to hook it up and make it work. I aint’ recorded anything yet…but you’ll hear about it if I don’t.
