The Phone Saga

Ah, how did we ever survive without cell phones? My daughter is learning this this week. Not by any fault of my own !! This is all hers !!!!

I have her my phone a week before Christmas. She begged and begged so it was part of her Christmas present (unlimited texting was the other part.)

Anyway, so I gave her my phone, I had had it all of just over a year. 18 months to be exact. It wasn’t no cheap thing. A Samsung Blast, runs about $180. (Of course I didn’t pay that !! Love those Full Free Upgrades !!!)

Two weeks ago, she spilled hot chocolate on it. It ain’t been right in the head since. If we can get it to charge, it might work. We don’t dare shut it off, it won’t come back on. The screen flashes white, blinks and goes black. I managed to back up her phonebook and all her pics . She had a SD memory card in it that had a bucket of music on it. We knew it was gonna croak on us, just a matter of time…..

Last Friday she had a slumber party at a girlfriends. I dropped off her sleepingbag and pillow and she tells me that her phone is dying. I told her to plug it in and see if it will charge overnight.

Saturday morning comes and I get a call from one of her friend’s phone. It’s Alexx. “I can’t find my phone”. Well, it can’t very well have walked out the door so it has to be in that house somewhere. We still ain’t seen it. I’m giving it another couple days. Maybe it will turn up. She said she saw it on the charge that morning. I’m guessing the 1 yr old hijacked it and it’s in the toilet, heading west to the coast.

I could really care less about the phone itself. But the SIM card and memory card are gonna cost me another $30 to replace. AND I DO have to get a replacement phone. Cuz that wonderful Full Free Upgrade don’t come due again till June.

Thank God for Ebay !! I been searching unlocked phones there. Not a great selection, but for $25 that all she getting !! No fancy slider, no QWERTY keyboard, no camera. A phone. It rings. It types. It sends. Deal with it, little girl.

Anybody got phone horror stories? Anybody got any cool websites that sells unlocked phones cheap? Any advice or suggestions?

Hell, if you got a spare phone ya wanna get rid of I might be convinced to buy it off ya!

Facebook. Yeah, I’m there too. Facebook is like the virgin version of this place. I think I have yet to see a cussword on a wall there !! Heaven forbid a near-pornagraphic profile pic.

Hard as hell to find anybody there. And you can’t check out their page until they ‘friend’ ya. (There IS a public setting, but most are set to private. Sucks)

I found my last ex there. (as opposed to my ‘next’ ex?! Haha) I hesitated ‘friendin’ him as we haven’t spoken to each other in round 12 or 13 years. The last year we were married he ran off to Gainesville. To work, so he said. Never seen him again.

Anyway, I found him. I sent him a friend request, and the next day he accepted. We said brief hellos. I left a very platonic, general message on his wall.

Two days later he deleted me. I’m guessing he had to explain me to the wife. The same chick he hooked up with while he was ‘working’ in Gainesville, while married to me. I really don’t give two shits. I think it’s funny. Makes me smile to know I got to him, or her. And I didn’t have to do anything !!

He looks tired, and still has the same haircut as he did in 1993, and the same beer belly. His wife is kinda pudgy. Tee Hee You all know what I’m thinking !!!! LOLOLOLOL
